Commission for Alibastar [Dreams]

Roguish, protective, fiercely strong - these all sum up Desert Eclipse. His domain isn't fighting or men's cologne, but he is tough, and guards his people with all of his might. It was always difficult for him to open up and allow himself to really feel things - that changed when Desert Eclipse took Hope under his wing one fateful day. He felt as if something had been awakened in himself, as if the future wasn't so bleak or uncertain. He had hope, and it felt wonderful to have that optimism in his heart. At first, the stay seemed like it would be temporary, just until the younger alicorn found a kingdom to call her own. Eventually, it became obvious that she was too loved by the people, too essential for the kingdom. She made up for what Desert Eclipse lacked, and vice-verse. 

Over time, his feelings grew for Hope. He became distracted, some days having trouble ruling properly. It took him a while to figure out why his heart flew into a frenzy when she smiled, or why he felt like he had a fever near her. When he realized what his heart was trying to tell him, it promptly sank into his stomach - she was so young at heart, too naive. Childish. He loved her, but she didn't understand it just yet. Still, he wanted her near, where he could protect her. So he pushed it to the back of his mind, deciding that they both had much room to grow, and to see where the future would take them. After all, he felt he could be hopeful for such a future, now.
